Nobody said this was going to be easy…

Well after 7 weeks of trying to reinvent my lifestyle I am doing better, but I am still continuing to have lapses of prior behavior, both in my eating and lack of exercise habits. One of my biggest challenges I seemed to be faced with is going to sleep at a reasonable hour so that I can get up and exercise in the mornings before work. If I could do this on a consistent basis that would actually help me cut down on snacking. The later I stay up at night directly relates to how much I end up snacking, and the more snacking I do gives way to snacking on the wrong items.

The problem is that I am just not a morning person…never have been, and probably never will be. I have always been a night owl, even as a little kid I would stay up late and read by flashlight under my blanket. And in my late teens and early 20′s I worked the graveyard and afternoon shift for several years. I attribute working these types of hours as the major cause of still being a night owl today some 20 years later. Though in reality that is probably just a convenient excuse and in all actuality plays no part on why I stay up too late.

Here are some of the things that I am doing right:

* For the most part I am eating healthier.

* I am not completely devoid of exercise, just need more.

* I am still mainly drinking water or iced tea as a substitute (only 3 cans of soda in the last 3 weeks.)

* Eating a healthy breakfast (most mornings – weekends are toughest)

What I am still doing wrong:

* Not getting enough sleep still seem to only get 6 hours a night on avg.

* Snacking more in the evening on the wrong types of food.

* Portion control

* Not enough exercise.
