My changes thus far…

My goal this week has been to get at least 7 hours sleep and get up in the morning and go for a walk.  So far I am 4 for 4 in this feat….can a get a just little halleluja!  The hardest part has been forcing myself to go to bed between 10:00pm and 10:30pm so that I can get up at 5:30am.  In the past I would stay up until at least midnight and many times later than that, then waking at 6:30am.  Getting an average of around 6 hours or less of sleep a night.

So far this week every morning I have gotten up an walked the same circuit.  It is just under a mile, and I am able to cover that distance in just a under 18 minutes.  It has been tempting to go further, but I am trying to subscribe to the notion that it is easier to change your life in small increments versus everything at once.

So far my changes are..

  • I have sworn off fast food
  • I pack a healthy breakfast to take to work.
  • If I don’t have to take a client to lunch I pack a healthy lunch.
  • I try to drink a gallon of water a day.
  • No diet soft drinks!
  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.
  • Get up and have some form of exercise in the morning.

Next week my goal is to increase my exercise by walking a little further in the morning.  I want to incorporate  weight training into my regimen.

My ultimate goal is to lead a healthy lifestyle and lead my children by example.  I just have to keep telling myself that this is not just another diet, this is a change to the way that I will live my life and undoing what I have done these past 46 years cannot be changed over night.
