About Me

I started this blog in 2010 as a way to log my weight loss journey.  I chose the domain name TwoPoundsaweek.com because that is what a healthy goal is for weight loss.  Little did I realize that I was going to add 2 pounds a week to my weight and not lose it!  The beginning of this year (2012) I decided that I needed to try and “get healthy”, I wasn’t depressed, but I had lost all motivation and my personal physician who I really liked really wasn’t giving me good advice.  When I did see him it was the same advice, “eat less and exercise more.”  This wasn’t working and he wasn’t doing anything different so I decided I needed to find a personal physician that would look at the whole picture.  So in March I found a physician that wanted to get to the root cause of why I am the size that I am. Currently I am tipping the scales at an even 430lbs, ironically my zodiac sign is Leo and I weight as much as a fully grown male lion.  So after some poking, prodding, multiple blood tests, a sleep study, a visit to an ENT, a visit to a cardiologist, an EKG, a stress test, 4 new prescriptions, and new CPAP machine I am left with a stack of $40 office visit co-pay receipts and the diagnosis of high blood pressure, the early stages of diabetes, sleep apnea and a heart arrhythmia.  Which when you put all of this together with my state of morbid obesity I came to a realization that I really needed to do something very soon or I was going to find my self pushing up daisies instead of smelling them.

So I spoke frankly with both my personal physician and cardiologist and both urged me to explore some sort of weight loss surgery.  This had been something I was considering, but after speaking to them I decided this was a path I wanted to pursue. So in October of 2012 I attended a seminar given by Dr. Zografakis of the Summa Bariatric Center and that has been the start of my journey to permanently lose the weight that is now literally killing me.  My blog will be used to tell the story as it unfolds from beginning to end.  I hope to be able to tell and show my story along all of the journey.

So if you are reading this stop back…I working hard on keeping this blog updated.
